Division III Institutional Performance Program (IPP)

The Division III Institutional Performance Program (IPP) is the primary analytics and benchmarking platform that turns data institutions already submit to the NCAA into usable insights. The IPP helps campus and conference leaders understand athletics trends, review academic and financial information, and compare their institution or conference to Division III peers. Review the IPP one-page overview (PDF).

Why should I use the IPP?

The IPP is designed for campus and conference decision-makers who rely on accurate, comparable data to guide planning and resource allocation. Through the system, users can:

  • Access data your institution already submits annually to the NCAA
  • Use a secure, centralized platform to view information across key reporting areas
  • Compare your institution or conference to Division III aggregates or custom peer groups
  • Identify trends that support strategic planning, equity and diversity efforts, academic review and financial oversight

How do I access the IPP?

You must have an ncaa.org account (user ID and password) and proper access to use the IPP. If you already have an account and IPP access, log in through the NCAA single sign-on portal and select the IPP icon.

If you are on campus and an account does not yet exist, contact your SSO administrator (typically the director of athletics). They can establish your account and assign you access to the IPP. Conference commissioners can log in to SSO and assign access to themselves.

Where does the data come from?

  1. Sports Sponsorship and Demographics Form – Required submission of information for student-athletes, athletics administrators and coaches
  2. Graduation Rates Data Collection System – Required submission of student-body information and voluntary submission of student-athlete information
  3. NCAA Financial Reporting System – Required submission of athletics finance information

Campus-level users with the appropriate permissions can access all three systems through the NCAA single sign-on portal.

How can the IPP help me?

The IPP provides decision-makers with insights across four major areas:

  • Academics: Explore graduation rates, including trends by gender, race/ethnicity and sport. Additional information about graduation rates can be found here
  • Students: Review student-athlete demographics and compare them with institutional and conference peer groups. Additional information about the diversity of student-athletes can be found here
  • Leadership: Examine data on coaches and athletics administrators by gender, sport and race/ethnicity to support staffing analysis and diversity goals. Additional information can be found here
  • Financial: Analyze expense trends, compensation data and the financial implications of sport sponsorship. Additional information about the finances of intercollegiate athletics can be found here

Important Dates

Annual data submission deadlines for systems that populate the IPP include:

  • NCAA Financial Reporting: January 15
  • Graduation Rates Data Collection: June 1
  • Sports Sponsorship and Demographics Data: August 1
